The best accommodation is going fast, now is the time to book safe accommodation for your school-leavers
Schoolies is that traditional time of year when Year-12 teenagers celebrate the end of an era and look forward to what is to come in adulthood. They make the transition from schoolkids to young adults and the entire Gold Coast comes alive with their boisterous partying.
Surfers Paradise has been the traditional schoolies home for many years now; indeed it was the place where it all started, and each year it gets bigger and better. It is the largest Australian Schoolies celebration and values its reputation as a safe partying venue.
While in recent years, some young people looking for an exotic celebration have ventured overseas, it is worth remembering that here in Australia, schoolies weeks are taken seriously and are well organised to allow our young folk to party while making sure they do so in safety.
In 2014, Schoolies runs for three weeks and caters to Year-12 students from all over Australia. Week 1─ from 22-29 November is primarily for Queensland schoolies while week 2 (29 Nov-6 Dec) is primarily intended for Schoolies from NSW and Victoria.
Here on the Gold Coast, organisers take safety measures very seriously. These include
- Wrist banding to easily identify schoolies (issues only after presentation of a valid Year 12 school ID card with a photo);
- Nightly activities in an alcohol and drug-free entertainment precinct known as the Schoolies Hub;
- A highly visible police presence;
- Additional emergency services, local law and liquor licensing personnel;
- Free transport options;
- A range of coordinated support services, delivered by volunteers and community organisations;
- Volunteers who play a vital role in helping to keep school leavers safe. (All volunteers have a Blue Card, agree to a code of conduct and receive training.)
So if you are a parent with youngsters in their final year of high school, the Gold Coast represents an ideal and safe venue for them to party.
But the first thing to ensure is that any group of school-leavers attending a schoolies week party has good, comfortable and safe accommodation that is centrally located and does not require any lengthy travel to get home from a night out.
GCHR is a Gold Coast-based agency with an office located within Surfers Paradise. As parents ourselves we understand parental concerns and are here to provide good quality safe accommodation for those attending the schoolies celebrations.
In particular, we recommend apartments at Orchid Residences as an ideal location to billet students attending Schoolies Week. Orchid Residences, in Cavill Avenue is located within the most prestigious Hotel in Surfers Paradise and has excellent facilities suited to young people including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, barbecue facilities, a shopping and entertainment precinct plus it is close to all the beach and all activities designed for Schoolies Week.
GCHR has a range of 2 and 3-bedroom apartments available but they are going fast. Two-bedroom units (sleeping four or six with extra beds that can be ordered) start from $450 a night while three-bedroom apartments (sleeping six or eight) start from $600 a night. During Schoolies Week, all apartments are subject to a minimum of seven nights stay. May we suggest:
